So I have learned in life that if you are given lemons you make lemonade....so how do I make lemonade out of this!? Well, what we will do is this, tomorrow we will have everyone finish up the test, then we will go over chapter 6 test when everyone is done. Then tomorrow night we will give this darn video a try again! Sound good? I promise I have the kinks worked out on this video site! :).
Sorry again and have a great night!

Flipped Class
On Wednesday we will try a flipped class for the first time this year! I am really excited for the opportunities that this style of teaching will provide and I am looking forward to having more class time to work one-on-one more with students! Students will need to watch the video of lesson 7-1 on this blog starting Tuesday afternoon. Students will need to follow along as if they were in class and write out the examples provided in the video. We will then start class by taking just 10 min. or so to discuss the examples and make sure everyone was able to see/understand the video, and then students will have work time for the remainder of the class period. I will be able to sit down and work on problems with students in more depth with this extra time having not had an entire lesson presented before the work time. I have told the students to please feel free to comment on the blog or e-mail me if they have questions. I am looking forward to hearing feedback from both students and parents after this first try at a flipped class, so please feel free to again comment or e-mail me with your thoughts!

Half Way There....
Well it's hard to believe but we are half way through the school year! Monday marks the start to the second semester. We will be going over the first 3 sections of chapter 6 again, these are tough sections that can always use a little extra time! I also was gone with the birth of our second child and was not in class for section 6-3. The mid term results will be discussed as well at the start of class on Monday. Hope you all have a great weekend and I look forward to a great second half of the school year!

2 Sections in 1 Day???
Today in class we covered both sections 6-1 and 6-2. These two sections are very closely related and work well together. The real advantage to covering both sections is it allowed us the entire class period to discuss and go over problems, which also gives us the entire class period tomorrow to work on "homework" in class. This will allow me more class time to work one-on-one with students and make sure everyone is understanding and on the right track! Yes that's right, NO HOMEWORK tonight, but we will work together tomorrow on problems from both sections in class. Below is a link to practice problems on these sections if you would like to check them out or practice some more!

Graph It!
Today in class we took an opportunity to work on graphing linear functions. Used our classroom whiteboards and some yarn for lines and graphed a bunch of linear equations. Students had a good time and we were able to make sure all of us were on the same page before moving on! This topic will come up a lot in the next couple of chapters and this was a great way to ensure we are all set up for success moving forward. Great day in Algebra, and even better.....there was no homework for tonight!
Enjoy your evening and relax.......more fun in store for tomorrow!
Here is a small sampling of the students in action!
